What the golden hour sailing looks like

The evening sailing departs as the light begins to turn — and its departure time changes from day to day, because we calculate it from the actual sunset of the date you choose, not from a fixed timetable. Whichever day you book, the sailing is placed to meet the best light that day has.

The boat leaves the pier beside Tarn Ayutthaya and circles the old island city along the same route as the day sailing, but everything it passes has been recoloured. The prangs of Wat Chaiwatthanaram become silhouettes against an orange sky, the water in front of Wat Phutthaisawan turns to copper, and Pom Phet fortress and the chedi of Sri Suriyothai shift tone by the minute. The story of each landmark is on our River Guide pages.

As the sky dims, the boat returns to the pier — and this is where the evening sailing holds its best card. A few steps up from the gangway is a dinner table at Tarn, with food and wine ready to order, no onward journey required.

Who this sailing suits

This is the most romantic hour the river offers — couples, anniversaries, proposals, or simply an evening that deserves to be more than ordinary. The whole boat is yours alone; no strangers share the frame.

Golden-hour photographers belong here too. Warm light across the chedis is an image no other sailing can give, and because the departure follows the real sunset, you never have to guess whether you will arrive in time for the light.

How to prepare

Arrive at the pier a little before departure — this light waits for no one. A light jacket is worth bringing, as the river breeze after sundown is cooler than you expect. Charge your camera or phone in full.

Choose your date when you book online, with instant confirmation. If dinner at Tarn is the plan, add a dinner set during booking and let the whole evening run as a single arrangement.

Asked about the sunset sailing

What time does the sunset sailing depart?

It varies — each day's departure is calculated from that day's actual sunset, so that you are on the water for the golden hour itself. The exact time for your chosen date is shown when you book.

What if the sky is overcast and there is no visible sunset?

Evening light on the river is beautiful even under cloud, and the monuments around the island are all still there. If a thunderstorm sets in, we reschedule your sailing at no charge.

Is dinner on the boat or at the restaurant?

Either. Add a dinner set on board when you book, or step off the boat and take a table at Tarn Ayutthaya, which sits right beside the pier — a few steps from the gangway.

Frequently asked

How long does this cruise last?

About 60 minutes on the water, from ฿3,500 per sailing. The whole boat is privately yours — you are never seated with another group. Pick your own date and hour when you book.

What is included in the price?

The whole boat privately chartered, a captain and crew, a life jacket at every seat, and drinking water. Dining sets can be added from ฿890 per set.

How many people can come?

Up to 12 guests on a private charter. The price is per sailing, not per person — it costs the same whether two of you come or twelve.

What happens if it rains?

The boat is roofed end to end, so ordinary rain does not stop the sailing. If a thunderstorm sets in we reschedule you at no charge.

Do I have to pay in full up front?

No. Book with a 50% deposit and settle the balance before your sailing date. Pay online by PromptPay or credit card.
